Éclat
Setup guide
Most of this theme installs in ten minutes. One step deserves care: the names of your product options, which decide what becomes a metal swatch and what becomes a size chip. Bought the theme? The same guide is in your package, offline.
1. Install the theme
- In your Shopify admin: Online Store → Themes.
- Add theme → Import a zip file.
- Pick
eclat.zip— the inner file from the package you downloaded, not the whole package. - It appears in your library as Éclat Studio, unpublished. Customize to work on it; publish when you are ready.
If Shopify says the file is not a valid theme, you have almost certainly uploaded the outer package. Unzip it first.
2. Colours, typography, brand
- Colours — off-white, charcoal (with a deep and a warm variant for the hero gradient), champagne gold, soft taupe, body and secondary text. Gold — text on light is a darker champagne so eyebrows stay legible at 4.5:1; set it to the same value as the accent for the exact design look.
- Typography — the theme ships Cormorant Garamond for headings (woff2, SIL Open Font License, no request to Google Fonts). The body face comes from Shopify’s font library, Inter by default. Switch the heading source to the library to pick any other font.
- Brand — the wordmark and its italic word (“Éclat” and “Studio” in the demo), or a logo image, plus the share image used when a page has none.
- Header — leave the header off-white after scrolling, or make it charcoal.
Menus live under Online Store → Navigation. The main menu powers the header and the mobile drawer: three or four links sit inline; a longer menu moves into the drawer earlier, so it never runs into the wordmark.
3. The home page
Four sections are in place when you install:
- Hero — the signature image sits top-right in a fine gold frame (3:4 works best); eyebrow, heading with an italic line, text, button. Until you set an image, the theme draws its own ring.
- Featured creations — pick a collection. The mosaic repeats every five products: one tall tile, three portraits, one wide. The order of the collection is the order of the tiles.
- Masterpiece — a square close-up on the left, the story and up to six specification blocks on the right.
- Featured product — pick a product and the full product layout appears on the home page.
Twenty-six more sections wait under Add section. Every one carries translated demo copy: leave a field empty and the theme’s text shows in the visitor’s language; type anything and yours wins.
4. Products — swatches, sizes, badges, tags
The product page reads your option names:
| Option named | Renders as | Detail |
|---|---|---|
Finition, Métal, Metal, Finish, Colour, Color | Round swatches | Values named yellow / jaune, rose / pink or white / blanc get the matching metal gradient. Shopify’s own colour or image swatches, when set on the option values, are used instead. |
Taille, Size, Ring size, Tour de doigt | Size chips | A size no available variant can reach is struck through. The Size guide link setting shows a link beside the label. |
Both lists are editable in the product section settings, comma-separated.
- Badge — a tag starting with
badge:, for examplebadge:New, shows at the top left of the tile. Or switch the source to the metafieldcustom.badge. - Material tags — the first two other tags (
18k gold,Ethical diamonds) show as outlined labels under the title. Adjust the count or hide them under Theme settings → Product tiles. - Accordions — rows on the product page: a title and a text or a page; the first can show the product description.
- Express checkout buttons — off by default; switch them on in the product section once wallets are enabled under Settings → Payments.
5. Pages to create
- Contact — template
contact: the appointment form with salon blocks. - About — template
about: page hero, your text as prose, then a masterpiece. - Client services — template
faq. - Size guide — any page with the Size guide section (seven sizes preset: French, millimetres, US, UK), then point the product section’s Size guide link to it.
6. Filters, sort, recommendations
Filters come from Shopify’s free Search & Discovery app: install it, enable the filters you want, and the collection page shows them in its left column. Without the app, the column simply stays empty. The sort control is the theme’s own menu; it keeps the active filters. Product recommendations under a product follow the pairs you set in the same app.
7. Illustrations
Seven line-art drawings ship with the theme — ring, necklace, pavé band, pearls, wedding bands, a signature ring on charcoal and a close-up. They fill every image slot until you set an image: tiles, gallery, cart, hero, masterpiece, sections. They are released CC0, so you may keep them for good. They vanish the moment a real image is set.
8. Languages
The interface ships in English by default with a
complete French translation included
(locales/fr.json). To sell in French:
Settings → Languages → Add language → French, then
publish it. The storefront follows the language of the URL the visitor
is on, demo copy included. The footer’s language and country selectors
appear as soon as your store publishes more than one language or ships
to more than one market.
